Şugar, an annual open-minded club night that presents diversity of the LGBTQIA + sounds of Beirut, Athens and Istanbul in all the Paradiso halls on Saturday 13 April 2019.
Şugar draws inspiration from a wider area, from Sofia to Tel Aviv and from Belgrade to Beirut, from the Balkans to the Middle East. It also shows diversity from these scenes: from the leading clubs where pop
ular mainstream music can be heard to the alternative, underground parties that you don't just enter. Musically, Şugar ranges from electronic, Arabic music to pumping Turkpop and from Greek çiftetelli to hip-hop beats from the Middle East.
With their slogan "Remember the past, create to future", Şugar looks back this year to the New York Stonewall riots that took place 50 years ago. In the Netherlands we can speak of a tolerant LGBTQ + emancipation, but that is certainly not the case everywhere in the world. Şugar connects people worldwide to embrace the LGBTQ + community.
